West Boynton Beach (Fla.) finally beat the Logan Little League All-Stars in the 11-12-year-old United States Southeast Regional at Warner Robins, Ga.

West Boynton Beach finished off stubborn Logan 11-7 on Saturday morning in the first regional tourney game for both teams.

The game began on Friday afternoon was suspended by rain with the Floridians leading 7-2 in the top of the second inning with the bases loaded and two outs.

After a lengthy five-hour rain delay, play was halted and tournament officials suspended the game until Saturday morning.

With the loss, Logan is scheduled to play at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, in an elimination game against the loser of the North State Greenville (N.C.) vs. Greenville (S.C.) game. The North Carolina vs. South Carolina contest was scheduled to be played on Friday night but was moved to Saturday afternoon due to the inclement weather.

Representing the state of Kansas for the first time since 2011, Southeast was eliminated from postseason play on Tuesday after a 6-5 loss to Nebraska (Kearney) at Grand Park Sports Campus.

Southeast struck first when Cade Burdette singled in a run in the top of the first, but Nebraska responded with a three-spot in the bottom half of the frame.

Nebraska pushed the lead to 4-1 after two innings before Cooper Hamblin produced a two-run triple to cut the lead to one.

Nebraska got a run back in the fourth, but Hamblin once again came through for Southeast, this time hitting a game-tying two-run home run in the sixth to knot it up at 5-5.

However, Nebraska had a final answer as it plated the game-winner on Reese Bober’s one-out ground ball that turned into an error that scored a runner from second.

Hamblin led Southeast at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort and four RBI. Easton Renn, Burdette and Quinton Lunsford each recorded a hit. Burdette allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out 11 batters in 5 1/3 innings.
